Background
The
history of Lucifer begins with the two Swedish metal maniacs Salle and
Matte meet at a local instrument dealer where Matte worked in 2002. Salle
as a guitar builder asked Matte, who is a guitarist in the celebrated band
Vintersorg, about making an evil guitar. Early on it was decided that an
evil guitar should be based on the devils trident. The trident as it looks
in the classic design soon was rejected, a guitar couldn't be made like
that and be cool and mean, it would only look silly.
If
this guitar was going to be biased on the trident it needed to go trough
major design alterations. After about 200 scraped drawings Matte one day
shows Salle a drawing not bigger then 3 cm of an idea that looked cool.
The small drawing was enlarged and the shape became the first embryo to
the future evil guitar Lucifer.
Salle started Working on the body in he’s wood workshop and also
designed a head based on a whale harpoon and saw teeth.

Soon
the first body was ready and the duo was pleased with the outcome. Or
at least was that what the two where telling them selves. Actually Salle
and Matte wasn't all that pleased with some significant details. The heads
suicide angle, the body underline and the horn. At this time the guitar
got its name: Lucifer. And the cooperation also got a name and a logo.
Salle and Matte combined was of cause SALMATH which became the cooperation
name and with the angry dragon logo it looked mean.

Even
though the logo became cool the Lucifer project where put on the shelf for
a year and nothing happened.
Salle twisted he’s mind to get a nice looking horn for the Lucifer, and
it finally strucked down when drawing on a 9 string special. Salle
carpeted like crazy and used the original blueprints from Lucifer 1, put
the new horn on it, smoothed out the underline and placed a reversed, less
angled head on the Lucifer 2 prototype.
And
praise hell, the 9 string Lucifer 2 prototype looked just as in the
vision.

Not
long after this Salle contacted Örjan on Eagle guitars on making a series
of the most evil guitar ever made, the Lucifer. After reviewing pictures
of Lucifer, it was clear that Örjan like what he saw, everything except
the 9-string part. So Salle went to he’s workshop once again and remade
the guitar as a 6-string Lucifer
And
that guitar became the original prototype that the manufactured Lucifer is
based on. The Eagle original was made with strings through the body as in
the first prototype.
-But that is of cause a cooler solution and it also give a better sustain
then a classic tunomatic string holder!
